Coach Kenny Lane
Founder & Director of Coaching
Coach Kenny Lane brings over 15 years of coaching and teaching experience to Legacy Hoopers, combining a decorated collegiate basketball career with a lifelong commitment to youth education and development. A standout forward at Mount Saint Mary College (NY), Kenny scored 1,051 career points and grabbed 937 rebounds — nearly joining the elite 1,000-point/1,000-rebound club. Over four seasons he led his team to three Skyline Conference Championship games, captured the title in 2005, and graduated as the holder of eight individual school records.
During his senior year, Kenny led the nation in rebounding, before finishing the season ranked in the top 50 nationally in both rebounds and blocked shots. As a three-year team captain, he led the program to its last Skyline Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth, accomplishments the school has yet to replicate. Among his career highlights are a 29-point, 14-rebound, 5-block performance against City College of New York and a buzzer-beating tip-in to defeat Stevens Tech, where he finished with a game-high 27 points.
Following his playing career, Kenny returned to Mount Saint Mary as an assistant coach and had the unique opportunity to coach against NBA superstar Stephen Curry during his time at Davidson University. Over the past 15 years, Kenny has served as a highly regarded educator, dedicated coach and skilled trainer of young athletes. His philosophy is simple: develop the whole player, lead with positivity, and build teams that compete with pride and purpose. Blending high-level basketball instruction with a deep understanding of how to teach, motivate, and inspire, Kenny has an unmatched ability to connect with student-athletes and shape not just great players, but confident young individuals prepared for success on and off the court.
