Handbook & Standards
Clear expectations help us build a championship culture. Please review this guide to understand how we operate—from tryouts to playing time.
Every player plays in every game, but minutes are earned not given. Roles are defined based on effort, energy, and execution.
RSVP is required 24 hours in advance. Consistency builds chemistry.
Please wait 24 hours after a game before emailing coaches with concerns.
Common Questions
1. Tryouts & Attendance
To be considered for a roster spot, players must be evaluated in person. Players are expected to attend at least one scheduled tryout. Missing all tryouts without prior approval from the Coaching Director may remove a player from consideration.
2. Team Placement
Placement is determined solely by the Coaching Director based on skill, effort, and team fit. Once posted, rosters are final. Decisions are not revisited or appealed. We place players where they will develop best, not necessarily where they want to be.
3. What is a "Practice Player"?
Practice Players train with the team but are not guaranteed game invitations. They are expected to uphold the same standards as rostered players. A Practice Player may be activated for a game if the roster drops below 8 players for that event.
4. Playing Time Policy
Playing time is earned and is not guaranteed or equal. Coaches make decisions based on effort, execution, and team needs. Playing time varies from game to game.
Note: Please refer to the 24-hour rule when wanting to discuss playing time with a coach.
5. Fees & Refunds
Once a season begins or uniforms are ordered, fees become non-refundable. We do not issue credits for absences, injuries, or scheduling conflicts.
6. Multi-Sport Athletes
We encourage multi-sport participation. However, once a roster spot is accepted, Legacy Hoopers events should be a priority (second only to school sports). Frequent absences may affect playing time and role.
Code of Conduct
We reserve the right to suspend any player or family whose behavior disrupts team culture.
🏀 For Players
- Arrive on time, prepared to compete.
- Show respect for teammates, coaches, and refs.
- Play with intensity and integrity.
- Body language matters, both on and off the court.
📣 For Parents
- Cheer positively; do not coach from the sidelines.
- Respect officials and opposing families.
- Do not discuss playing time at the game.
- Trust the process and the coaching staff.
The drive home is often the most stressful part of youth sports for a child. Our advice: Do not critique their play immediately after the game. They already know if they played poorly. Instead, try saying: "I loved watching you play today." Let the coaches handle the corrections at the next practice.
