Handbook & Standards

Clear expectations are the foundation of a championship culture. Please review our operational standards below to understand our approach to accountability, communication, and development.

⏱️ Playing Time

Minutes are earned, not given. Rotations are dictated by practice execution, defensive intensity, and coachability.

📅 Attendance

RSVP is required 24 hours in advance via the app. Consistency builds chemistry.

24-Hour Rule

Emotions run high after competition. Please wait 24 hours after a game before contacting coaches.

Operational Policies

1. Practice & Game Attendance

Players are expected to attend all scheduled practices and games. We require families to update their RSVP status in the LeagueApps Play app at least 24 hours in advance so coaches can plan practice plans and game rotations effectively. Consistent, unexcused absences may directly impact a player’s role and playing time.

2. Communication & App Policy

All team schedules, roster updates, group chats, and RSVPs live exclusively in the LeagueApps Play mobile app. Parents are required to download the app and turn on push notifications to ensure they do not miss sudden gym location changes, weather cancellations, or urgent coach updates.

3. Team Placement & Evaluation

Placement is determined solely by the Coaching Director based on skill, effort, and team fit. Once posted, rosters are final. Decisions are not revisited or appealed. We place players where they will develop best, not necessarily where they want to be.

4. Leagues vs. AAU Tournaments

Depending on the team’s age, development level, and competitive needs, some teams will be entered into local league play rather than regional AAU tournaments. This determination is carefully managed and made solely by Coaching Director Kenny Lane to ensure the best competitive fit and growth environment for each group.

5. The “Practice Player” Designation

At this age, development and high-level reps are the most important factors for long-term growth. Practice Players train with the team but are not guaranteed game invitations. They are expected to uphold the exact same standards of commitment, focus, and effort as rostered players. A Practice Player may be activated for a game if the roster drops below 8 players for that event.

6. Earned Playing Time

Playing time is earned and is not guaranteed to be equal. Coaches make decisions based on effort, execution, defensive energy, and team needs. Playing time will vary from game to game based on matchups.

Note: Please refer to the 24-hour rule before initiating any discussions regarding playing time.

7. Registration & Refunds

Upon receiving a roster invitation, families have exactly 48 hours to accept their spot and complete registration (or initiate a payment plan). Once a spot is accepted and custom player kits are ordered, fees become strictly non-refundable. We do not issue credits for absences, injuries, or scheduling conflicts.

8. Multi-Sport Athletes

We encourage multi-sport participation to build well-rounded athletes. However, once a roster spot is accepted, Legacy Hoopers events should be a priority (second only to school-sanctioned sports). Frequent absences due to other club sports may affect a player’s development and their role on the team.

Code of Conduct

We hold everyone in our program — players, parents, and coaches — to the same standard of character and respect. We reserve the right to suspend any player or family whose behavior disrupts team culture.

🏀 For Players

  • Arrive on time, prepared to compete.
  • Show respect for teammates, coaches, and refs.
  • Play with intensity and integrity.
  • Body language matters, both on and off the court.

📣 For Parents

  • Cheer positively; do not coach from the sidelines.
  • Respect officials and opposing families.
  • Do not discuss playing time at the game.
  • Trust the process and the coaching staff.
💡 The “Car Ride Home”

The drive home is often the most stressful part of youth sports for a child. Our advice: Do not critique their play immediately after the game. They already know if they played poorly. Instead, try saying: “I loved watching you play today.” Let the coaches handle the film review and corrections at the next practice.
