Legacy Hoopers Tryouts

What We Evaluate

We’re not looking for perfect players—we’re looking for players who can grow within our system and contribute to a team. Evaluations include:

  • Ball handling, passing, and finishing.
  • Shooting form and decision-making.
  • Defensive stance, effort, and awareness.
  • Communication, body language, and coachability.
  • How a player fits into the overall roster (roles, positions, style).

Tryouts are one piece of the puzzle. We also consider prior seasons and practice habits for returning players.

What to Bring to Tryouts

  • Basketball sneakers and athletic clothing (no school uniforms).
  • Labeled water bottle.
  • Any necessary medical items (inhaler, braces, etc.).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to listen, compete, and be a good teammate.

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in and be ready to start on time.

How Team Placement Works

Team placement is determined solely by the Coaching Director. We place players where they can develop, contribute, and fit into a full roster—not just based on one drill or one day.

  • Evaluations consider skill, effort, attitude, and roster fit.
  • Attendance at tryouts is required unless excused in advance.
  • Past participation in Legacy Hoopers does not guarantee placement.
  • Rosters are final once posted and are not revisited or appealed.

For full details on team placement, playing time, Practice Player roles, and multi-sport commitments, please review the Parent Handbook & FAQ.
